How often do you hear the line
“for the first time in over a decade”?
It’s usually used to try and make something
completely uninteresting sound exciting. When
there’s above average rainfall in Yorkshire,
or when the England Cricket team beats Australia
for the Ashes. Well, for very possibly the first
time in over a decade, the term “for the first
time in over a decade” is being applied to
something exciting. No, that wasn’t it. For
the first time in over a decade, Billy Idol has
completed and released a brand new studio album.
That was it. Keep up.
Yes, the first Billy Idol record since Cyberpunk
in 1993 (that’s 12 years) was released earlier
this year and has been very well received.
No calls of “Give it up, grandad” from the
music-buying masses so far. Quite the opposite,
in fact. Many attendees with half an ounce of
musical appreciation (you know, the ones that
aren’t Slipknot fans) at this years Download
Festival in Donington cited Billy’s set as one
of the highlights of the entire weekend. Billy
has been touring the US all summer, and is now
set to embark on his first European tour for,
you guessed it, over a decade. Kicking off in
Dublin on November 9th, Billy and the boys will
be taking in Ireland, England, Germany, Finland,
Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria and
Holland. More dates are constantly being added.
Who are these boys? Well, long time guitarist
Steve Stevens is still on board, augmented by
multitalented Pride & Glory drummer/Ball
guitarist Brian Tichy on drums, ex-Dream
Theater/Alice Cooper keyboard player Derek
Sherinian and bass player Stephen McGrath. The
new album, Devil’s Playground
is a masterclass in modern punk rock from one of
the genres most legendary exponents, and the
live shows promise to be the same.
Platinum Packages are available for all UK
shows and some European shows at a cost of $250.
This price includes the best seats in the house,
an exclusive t-shirt and a meet and greet with
the man himself. Where possible it also includes
a pre-show backstage tour and a soundcheck.

Tour merchandise is also available at the same
location. UK dates are as follows:
Friday November 11th London - Brixton Carling
Academy
Sunday November 13th Manchester - Carling Apollo
